About Berni

Berni Ditroi didn’t plan this life. She planned something else entirely.

It was one moment in Budapest, following an unfamiliar sound into an underground passage, that changed everything. The handpan didn’t just become her career. It became her calling.

What followed was seven years of saying yes to wherever the music led.

The streets of London, Switzerland, Tenerife and beyond, playing for strangers who stopped, listened and sometimes never wanted to leave.

Stages and venues across Europe and Asia, including Sziget (Everness stage), Ozora, Nomad Tribal Gathering and Festiwal Przy Jaźni, plus sound healing sessions and performances in Bali.

Teaching handpan for seven years, to plenty of students from London to Hungary.

In 2025 she gave a TEDx talk and performance at TEDx Saronno, where her message was simple: when we follow what truly calls us, we step into who we are meant to be.

Today she plays solo and with the five-piece ensemble Axis Mundi, and is working towards an electronic handpan setup for party stages.

The Music

Berni’s music is melodic and hypnotic, with percussive layers. Every piece has a frame, and she improvises inside it, so no two performances are the same. On the street and at festivals the energy rises. At weddings and venues she plays softer and adjusts to the room.

“ I could see on your face how truly happy you were. You left a lasting impression on me - as if you had passed something on to me.” - Alan

Lasting impact

Music that reaches something deep - and stays there.
